Tucson, Arizona — A judge has upheld a state official’s finding that the Tucson Unified School District’s ethnic studies program violates state law. — The Arizona Daily Star reports that Administrative Law Judge Lewis Kowal on Tuesday upheld the determination by Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal and found that grounds exist to withhold 10 percent of the district’s monthly state aid until it can come into compliance. — The district has said such a loss would cripple the district. — The Arizona Department of Education has said the only way the district could come into compliance was to suspend the Mexican American Studies program and rebuild it… Read More
