Suspect fleeing to Mexico caught after 2-hour chase

Chula Vista, Calif. — A suspected drunken driver making a run for the border was stopped in Chula Vista on Saturday after a two-hour chase that started in Los Angeles County. — Jose Alberto Meza, 22, was arrested on the E Street offramp from Interstate 5 at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after California Highway Patrol officers flattened the tires on his Toyota Corolla using spike strips, according to the CHP and The San Diego Union-Tribune.  — Meza surrendered at gunpoint without a struggle, but he had told his mother in a cell phone conversation that he did not intend on being taken alive if stopped before crossing the border, a CHP officer told the newspaper… Read More
