Mexican caught attempting to smuggle heroin into Arizona

San Luis, Arizona — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the San Luis Port arrested a man, accompanied by his family, for attempting to smuggle heroin into the country on June 19. — On June 19, at approximately 6 a.m., a 41-year old Mexican male attempted to enter the U.S. with his two children in the vehicle and was referred for a secondary inspection. Subsequently, a narcotics detection canine alerted to the dash area leading to the discovery of a non-factory compartment containing 13 packages of heroin. The narcotics weighed more than 30 pounds with an estimated value of $413,440.
