Suspects in marijuana grow plead not guilty

Eight suspects accused of being part of a major marijuana-growing operation pleaded not guilty to charges of felony possession of marijuana for sale and felony marijuana cultivation Friday afternoon. — Bernardino Gar`cia, 45; Maria Rivera, 46; Jose Robles, 54; Jorge Garrido, 24; Francisco Pedraza, 24; Rigoberto Martinez, 28; Jose Chavez, 36, and Maria Lopez, 44, were arraigned in Kern County Superior Court before Judge Colette Humphrey. — Bail for each was set at $1 million, but according to Kern County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ray Pruitt, Garrido, Pedraza, Martinez and Chavez aren’t eligible for bail because immigration holds have been placed on them… Read More
